というわけで、#stdrums 初のイギリスライヴを終えて帰ってきました。
旅の記事に書いてきた内容と重複があるかもしれませんがご容赦下さい。
今年の4月に初めて向かったロンドン。
そのとき多くの路上パフォーマンスを見て、何か出来ないかと思った。
帰国して機材を揃えて、日本で練習がてら路上ライヴを始めると、
足を止めて下さった方に音源製作を勧めて頂いた。
2週間で完成させて"Anywhere Dancefloor"を販売開始。
完全DIYの手売りとしてはかなりいい反響を頂いていて、
まさかの旅費をカバーしてしまう結果を生みました。
今回の宿泊先は前回の旅で仲良くなった友達、meeの家。
なにも抵抗なく迎え入れてくれた。
それ以外はイチから作り始める旅。
最大の関門としていた入国審査も難なくクリアでき、
いよいよロンドンで路上ライヴがスタートしました。
日本との違いは歴然としていて、毎日驚きの連続でした。
ノリノリで通り過ぎてくれたり、メロイックサインくれたり。
特にお子さんに反応がいい。
飛び跳ねながら見てくれたり、
小学生の団体が囲んで踊りまくってくれたり。
まさにAnywhere Dancefloor.
そう願って付けたタイトル通りの結果がそこにはありました。
その分トラブルも多かった。
一番多いのは酔っ払いやホームレスの絡み。
お恵みを…というより、よこせって言ってきてる印象だもの。
向こうの彼らはパワーがあるので大変でした。
11月は天気も悪いらしく、噂に聞くロンドンの空模様で
観光だったら大歓迎のところなのですが、
ライヴをする立場になりますと随分と翻弄されました。
警察に関してはこれら2点の方が大変で、
特に問題にはなりませんでした。
ライセンスを取得している同業者はほぼおらず、
時間帯の把握をしておけば
止められることも殆どなかったです。
日本の警察の機動力と治安の高さを感じさせます。
＜外国人はCDを買わずにチップをくれて、
日本人はチップはくれないけどCDを買ってくれる＞
日本からの統計が結果にモロに出ていて、
とにかくチップはどんどん貯まる。
通り過ぎるだけの人が投げ込んでくれたりする。
何か一芸を持ってる物乞いのような気持ちになりました笑。
CDはたまに売れるくらいで、約100枚の在庫を抱える状況でした。
そんななか、Brixtonで出会ったギタリストのJavi.
翌日に再会し路上でセッションをしました。
後日彼のバンドEVERESTのベーシスト、Billも加わってくれて
#stdrums の旅に変化が起き始めました。
セッションの横にCDを置いておくと、どんどん売れる。
ドラムのソロアルバムと伝えても問題なく買ってくれる。
バンドというフォーマットが注目を集めたのか、
我々のセッションに強い魅力があったのかは定かではありませんが、
嬉しい反面、自身の楽曲や魅力に対して不安にもなりました。
そのあと1人でやったら何故かCDが全部売れたり笑。
結局上手い下手・イケてるダサいではなく、いい空間かどうか。
これだけが重要だと感じました。
今まで日本で、いかにちゃんと最後まで観て頂いていたか。
ハードルが別のベクトルにあるようです。
そして前提として、路上は運次第なのも再確認。
旅の後半は毎日Javi, Billと会ってセッションして、
CDの売れ行きも伸びて、最終日に何とか全てのCDを捌けました。
1人では絶対無理だったと思います。
そしてJaviは出会った日からZEPPのRumble Onを弾いてくれて、
この最後の1枚が売れた後にも弾いてくれました。
祝福のファンファーレに聴こえたよ。最高のセッションでした。
表現や演奏というよりは、修業といった方がしっくりきました。
しかしドラム沢山叩けて英語の習得できました。
地下鉄ではONCEミュージカルのMatthewと遭遇できました。
そして稼いだお金で最高のGUINNESSを沢山飲めて、
レコードは遂にクリムゾンの1stのUK盤を買えて、
ライヴはProcol Harumのオーケストラバージョンを最前列で観れて、
これらの買い物はありがたみが違いました。
結果初日の飲食と電車代以外、帰国までカードは一度も使わず。
最高の旅でした！
今回の旅の目標は、自身の音楽を試し・広める。
そして繋がりを作る。
結果、見事に繋がりができました。
1人で始めた路上ライヴが最後の夜には大勢となってました。
日本を出るとき既に、また次も行きたいと思っておりました。
ですが今は、約束をしてしまって行かなければならなくなりました。
会わなければいけない人が沢山いますから。
今回段取りがわかったので、次は更に音楽を中心にいきたい。
CDの売上とかではなく、もっと内面の部分。
これをどうすればいいのか…考えなければなりませんが、
また来年の4月に行きます。
この旅は、まさにRumble On.(さすらい)
誰だとしても関係無い魅力的なドラマーになりたいです。
それが試せるのが路上の面白さなんだなぁと。
これからも転がり続けていきたいと思います。

I saw that many performer are there in everywhere when I was going to London in April this year & felt "I can do something". Assemble mini drum kits & start playing in tokyo after back in Japan. a someone said "Aren't you going to make a CD?" to me. inspired & made "Anywhere Dancefloor" CD in 2 weeks. this is the beginning of #stdrums.
this travel were one of my dream. I stayed my friend Mee's house & started busking in London. felt a difference Japan and London & surprised everyday. my album name "Anywhere Dancefloor" meaning are just like same. my wish was came true in London by anyone's wonderful response.
this travel were like a training because there were many trouble. but I can play drums for long time in street, speak and learn English(but still poor), drinking GUINNESS, buying many vinyl, going the show of Procol Harum. there were done by all of tips. great & perfect, isn't it?
this travel were made many friends & connections. especially Javi & Bill from the band EVEREST were meeting & doing session everyday. we often played the song "Rumble On" from LED ZEPPELIN. and they playing again when my CD was all sold out at my last visiting day. it's a lifelong memory to me. street were connected there all people.
Now, my state of mind are changed "I MUST go to London again" from "I want to go" by all friends. I'll go again in April feels just like a "RUMBLE ON".
